About 3 years ago, before
we started making our own boxes, we
imported T-5 conversion kits from
various companies in the States. Some of
these units were nothing but trouble
right from the start with a batch of 10
'boxes, 2 would fail during test and 6
were noisy. We recalled and
replaced all of the imported gearboxes
which exhibited the fault as well as
compensate the customers for the
inconvenience - this was of course a
very expensive and destructive exercise.
Our current gearbox
(which is completely our own design) has
nothing what so ever with the gearboxes
that we imported.
As engineers, the only
way that we could guarantee 100% quality
is to keep all of the manufacturing
in-house with a strict QA on any
suppliers for specialist parts and raw
materials. (the only parts we don't
manufacture in-house are the gears - and
these are made in a facility that supply
OEM's). This then ensures total control
within the production process.
