The ETF 5 speed gearbox is so compact that
it requires no modification to sheet
metalwork to fit into the any of the
E-Type model tunnel. The reverse light
switch is conveniently located on the
top of the carcass to further reduce
width as well as the custom input shaft
to allow you to use the original Jaguar
clutch and bell housing. |
The
original unit tends to suffer from
excessive mainshaft movement because of
the choice of bearing that the
manufacturers used their design. The
bell housing was used to both seal and
pre-load the radial input shaft bearing,
the ETF gearbox however, employs a
bearing and seal retaining housing that
seals the heavy duty taper roller
bearings that supports our mainshaft.
